About SmallNestDecor

SmallNestDecor exists for one simple reason: most decor advice is written for houses, with spare rooms, renovation budgets, and walls you are allowed to drill into. We write for the rest of us. Our readers live in studios, one-bedroom apartments, first small homes, and rentals where the lease says no in three different places.

Who this is for

If you have ever measured a sofa against an elevator door, stored the suitcases under the bed, or wondered which white paint will not turn your north-facing living room blue, you are our people. Our ideas assume real floor plans, real budgets, and usually a landlord.

How we choose ideas

Every guide on SmallNestDecor has to pass three tests. Does it work in a genuinely small space, not a "small" showroom? Can it be done without permanent changes, or is the permanent part honestly flagged? And would we spend our own money on it, in that order? Ideas that fail a test do not get published, however pretty they are.

A note on our images

Many of the rooms you will see here are AI-generated inspiration renders, created to show a color, a layout, or a mood as clearly as possible. They are illustrations of ideas, not photographs of real homes, and never a promise that a specific product looks a certain way. Where a guide depends on a real product, we say so and link to the retailer so you can judge the real photos yourself. We would rather be honest about an image than impressive with one.
